ABOUT JULIE AZAR

I began drawing years ago, guided by a desire to be creative and by the quiet fascination of watching a drawing unfold. After an injury, I was forced to step away from art, and as life grew busy, that part of me was set aside.

Several years ago, an artist appeared on my Instagram feed and sparked something I thought was no longer possible. Inspired by her work and following her tutorials, I discovered a way to work through my injury and return to drawing. This time, I approached my art with a different intention — one rooted in focus, awareness, and being fully present in the moment.

I am inspired by the process of watching a drawing come to life. For me, the eyes are the connection to the soul and capturing that essence is at the heart of my work. Each piece emerges layer by layer over many hours, as subtle texture and depth slowly take shape. With every layer, the drawing comes alive, and the process itself is both grounding and deeply meditative.
